Continuing Orthodontic Treatment during COVID-19?

Naturally, we have had some enquiries from patients about the progress of their treatment during this time of COVID19.

Thankfully in most instances progress continues to be made on your treatment despite reduced visits to the clinic.

Here at Mount Lawley Orthodontics your Doctor is dedicated to utilising the latest proven innovations for your care. For braces this means that the brackets and wires we routinely implement are designed to be active over extended periods of time with as few visits as necessary. If however you have concerns about your appliance then the best alternative is to take some photos of your teeth and forward them on to us for assessment.

For our Invisalign cases, we have already arranged for an additional number of aligners to be supplied so that you can be sure that your treatment is progressing. In some circumstances it has not been possible for attachments to be placed, however your aligners will still be about 90% effective without these. If you have concerns then again the best alternative is to take some photos of your teeth and forward them to on us. We will then phone you to further discuss your query. An additional review may later be recommended when normal service resumes.

For active plates and RME's it is best to contact the surgery  for clarification on appropriate turning  and adjustment protocols.

The most important thing to remember is to continue to follow the advice that your Doctor has initially provided regarding the care and wear of your appliance.

Options to repair breakages are limited for the time being, so making careful selections on what and how you eat will keep your appliance intact. This results in continued ideal tooth movement.

Wearing your retainers and removable appliances as your Doctor has instructed will eliminate the risk of teeth relapsing, moving adversely and causing fit issues.

Finally, if you have any concerns at all about your Orthodontic situation please call our team on PH: 089371 6088 who are standing by throughout the COVID -19 community health crisis to assist you.
