Doctor Fiona Hall Orthodontist
Dr Hall studied for her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.Ch.D.) in Leeds, UK 1983 -1987. After working in Oral Surgery for 2 years she studied at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London and gained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1990, her Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of London in 1992, and her Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. After working at Newcastle Dental Hospital, UK, she came to Western Australia in 1996 and worked at the Perth Dental Hospital.
Dr Hall and Dr Owen set up Mount Lawley Orthodontics in 2000, and Dr Hall became practice principal in 2010. She also works as an associate in Midland.
Fiona lives in Mount Lawley with her husband Graham Tarling and their two beautiful children Katie and Jack.
Doctor Denise Wilson Orthodontist
Dr Wilson completed her Bachelor in Dental Science at UWA in 1991. She worked in private practice in Perth before leaving for Dubai in 1993. After 5 years as a general dental practitioner, she commenced her specialist training at the Eastman Dental Institute in London, UK, completing the Master of Science in Orthodontics (University of London) and Memberships in Orthodontics at both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. She then completed a year in specialist practice in St. John’s Wood, London before returning to Western Australia and registering as an Orthodontist in October 2000.
She then joined the specialist orthodontic team at Mount Lawley Orthodontics and also opened her own practice in Mosman Park in 2001.
Denise and her husband Brett have two beautiful daughters Mia and Rosalie.
Doctor Arti Dyett Orthodontist
Arti was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and moved to London to begin her career as a dentist. After completing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at the University of London with Honours, Arti moved to Perth for the great weather and friendly people, loving the beaches and river in close proximity to the city.
Arti worked for 3 years as a dentist in private practice and with the government dental health service. Arti has also completed a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (BSc Dent) with Honours at the University of Western Australia. In 2010 Arti commenced a full time 3-year Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics (DClinDent) at the University of Western Australia.
Arti has completed research evaluating the impact of orthodontic tooth movement on surrounding tissues, and also on the use of 3-Dimensional scanning methods to assess facial asymmetry. Arti’s research has been presented to fellow clinicians, and is currently under review for publication in the Australian Orthodontic Journal.
Outside of work you will find her at the gym, rock climbing, cooking or spending time with family and friends.
Doctor Hui Lau Orthodontist
Hui was accepted at the University of Melbourne with a scholarship to study Bachelor of Dental Science, graduating with Honours in 2007. After graduation, she worked at multiple private practices and government dental health service in Melbourne, providing care to patients from all walks of life. She also went on to complete the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons primary exams.
After 4 years as a general dental practitioner, Hui then moved to Perth and obtained her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) from the University of Western Australia. During the three-year full-time specialty training, she also completed her research evaluating the impact of growth and orthodontic treatment on the lips. To ensure that she is at the forefront of orthodontic knowledge, Hui is committed to continuing education. She is also an active member of local and international societies.
When she’s not working, Hui enjoys socialising with friends, cooking and some gardening despite her not-so-green fingers.
Holly Practice Manager and Dental Therapist
Holly completed the Dental Assisting course at TAFE (Subiaco) in 1992 and then went on to further study from 1993 – 1994 graduating as a Dental Therapist with an Associate Diploma in Dental Therapy from Curtin University. Holly initially joined Dr Owen’s team at Midland Orthodontics, then later moved and consolidated to Mount Lawley Orthodontics after it opened in 2000.
Holly enjoys her expanded role in the practice management tasks of Mount Lawley Orthodontics while still prioritising direct patient care.
Catherine Dental Hygienist
Catherine joined Mount Lawley Orthodontics in January 2009 and plays an integral role as a Dental Hygienist.
Catherine completed the dental assisting course at TAFE in 2003 and joined Dr Owen’s team at Midland Orthodontics from 2004 to 2007. She then studied for an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene at Curtin University from 2007 graduating in 2008.
Catherine and Elliott are the proud parents of Elsie Olivia.
Tania Dental Therapist
Tania graduated as a Dental Therapist with an Associate Diploma in Dental Therapy from Curtin University in 1995. She joined Dr Owen’s team at Midland in 1996. In 2000 Tania joined the team at Mount Lawley Orthodontics and enjoys provided clinical care to our clients here, usually on Mondays.
Linda Dental Therapist
Linda qualified as a Dental Therapist in 1977. She worked within the School Dental Therapy Service up until 1999, when she pursued further study in Orthodontics. Linda has joined our team at Mount Lawley Orthodontics to provide care and support to all our patients.
Linda is married with 2 grown children.
Tara Orthodontic Assistant
Tara completed the dental assisting course at TAFE in 2010, and then went on to complete further training for dental assisting in mid-2011. Tara joined our team in early 2011, and has an essential role here at Mount Lawley Orthodontics in assisting with the care of our patients.
On most days off Tara has her hands full chasing after her young nephew, Luke.
Alexis Orthodontic Assistant
Alexis attended Chisholm Catholic College where she was given the opportunity to do work experience at several dental practices. This gave her an insight into the industry, which led her to complete her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in 2013.
Alexis joined the team at Mount Lawley Orthodontics in February 2014 while furthering her studies to obtain Certificate IV in Dental Assisting. She assists in the treatment and care of our patients.
Alexis plays piano and has danced for 15 years. She now spends her free time going to the Gym and shopping.
Roimata (Roi) Front Office Manager
Roi relocated from a small coastal village in NZ to WA in 1997 and initially worked at Perth Dental Hospital as a receptionist in the emergency and then specialist departments from 1998 to 2000.
She joined Mount Lawley Orthodontics in February 2002 as a Front Office Co-ordinator. She maintains all administrative duties including Debt Management. Despite full time work and the demands of a family she was motivated to expand her skill base and graduated with Cert III and Cert IV in Dental Assisting at the end of 2009.
She and her husband Lance have two beautiful children Mary-Mitchell and Tasman.
Nicole Front Office Co-ordinator and Orthodontic Assistant
Nicole is a foundation staff member here at Mount Lawley Orthodontics, being part of our furniture since opening in July 2000. A qualified Dental Assistant, but in the the earlier years she was as our first receiptionist.
Following an extended maternity break, Nicole is now a back with us part time in the clinic and juggling a busy family.
Jude Front Office Co-ordinator
Jude joined our administration team at the start of 2011 with twelve years of dental experience as a nurse and office administrator, holding a certificate IV in Dental Clinic Assisting.
She will be found mainly at the front desk greeting patients and assisting with the administrative side of things, and on the occasion jumping in with her gloves on to help the clinic staff.
Jude enjoys the interaction & helping patients through their orthodontic journey, adding in her Irish humour around the practice wherever possible.
Shimmer and Shine
Shimmer and Shine are invaluable team members of our front office, when they are not busy helping Roi and Jude they are planning their next holiday to the Great Barrier Reef for a bit of snorkeling.
